Ambassadors

Imagine being a young adult; you’re looking ahead to an independent life full of possibilities. Then you hear the words, “you have cancer” and everything is derailed. When a young adult (18-39) is in active treatment, natural survival instinct kicks in with a clear focus on jumping over the first hurdles of initial treatment. Once the “bell is rung” signifying the end of active treatment, many experience the realization that their life looks very different. That’s where Base2Summit (B2S), our adventure-based survivorship program launches.

At Base2Summit we use the three tenets of wellness, adventure, and connection to drive all of our programming. This focus guides us as we hold space for 12 participants to experience the beauty and healing powers of Northern Michigan. We encourage our participants to challenge themselves in the outdoors through kayaking, hiking, sailing and biking before we head back to the lake to relax around the campfire. While each day is filled with adventure and camaraderie— the laughter and connection with young adults that simply “get it” is what makes the Base2Summit week magic.

As an ambassador, you are walking alongside us as we support young adults while they are adjusting to their new base and targeting an extraordinary summit!

“I’d never been to Michigan so I was excited to go. I realized pretty quickly, it wasn’t the place (although it was great) it was the people I met that stayed with me.” -B2S participant
