Cancer and Careers Workshop

job-interviewLooking to get back into the working world after cancer but are unsure of the next steps? The Cassie Hines Shoes Cancer Foundation, in partnership with Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit and Cancer and Careers, are putting on a workshop to assist young adults in their career hunt after cancer.

What do I have to tell my employer? Is there certain information I need to know when filling out my medical benefits? Can I jump right back into the field? These and much more are valid questions that a young adult who has battled cancer might ask when looking to get back in the workforce.

We have created a workshop to help answer those questions and alleviate some of the stress that comes along with the job searching process. Sarah Goodell, Manager of Programs from Cancer and Careers, will host the workshop and help guide you in the right direction when it comes to workforce development after cancer.

The workshop takes place on Tuesday, May 17 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit in Royal Oak. A light dinner will be served during the workshop. To register, contact Gilda’s Club at (248) 577-0800 or email to workshop.CHSCF@gmail.com.
